Running "buy one get one free" style promotions

In Gift Up's promotion engine, you can set up a "buy one, get one free" style of promotion. You have a variety of control over what extra gift card(s) is issued, the quantity, and whether you charge for the extra gift cards or not.

Here's how it looks (it should be pretty self-explanatory):

How to give away an extra gift card

If you are giving away an extra gift card (say get a free $25 gift card when you spend $100), you'll need to make sure that you have an item for sale that represents the $25 gift card you're giving away, this is because when you set up the promotion you are forced to choose an existing item for sale in the dropdown:

If the item you are giving away does not exist, you'll need to create it as a new item for sale. We recommend setting the new item as "private" to make sure that it is not available for sale and is only used as part of the giveaway promotion:

How to give away a gift card for every $x your customers spend

If you want to run a promotion that issues a free gift card for every $ bracket your customers spend, we have a special option available. You can choose to issue one gift card per $x they spend when setting up your promotion.

For example, if you wanted to issue a free $10 gift card to the purchaser, for every $100 they spend, you'd do this:

Pro tip: We also recommend placing a test order to test the mechanism of your promotions to make sure that they work in the way you expect them to!
